Big Changes Coming For Wyndham Rewards Members

On April 3rd, 2019, Wyndham Rewards Members will be seeing a lot of changes to their rewards program, including how they can earn and redeem points, as well as the ability to start earning at additional properties nationwide.

What’s Changing:

1. Earning On Stays:

Guests will be able to earn 10 points per dollar or 1,000 points (whichever is higher) at the 18+ different brands across the Wyndham portfolio, including:

  • Wyndham Grand
  • Dolce Hotels & Resorts
  • Wyndham Hotels & Resorts
  • TRYP by Wyndham
  • Esplendor Boutique Hotels
  • Dazzler Hotels
  • Trademark Collection
  • Wingate by Wyndham
  • Wyndham Garden
  • AmericInn
  • Ramada
  • Baymont
  • Microtel
  • Days Inn
  • Super 8
  • Howard Johnson
  • Travelodge
  • Hawthorn Suites

And starting on April 3rd, guests will also have the opportunity to earn Wyndham Rewards points on all of their stays at La Quinta hotels, when the La Quinta Returns program is officially retired and rolled into Wyndham Rewards.

TIP: If currently enrolled in La Quinta Returns, you can transfer your existing points to Wyndham Rewards at a 1:1 ratio, but if you wait for the points to roll over on their own, you may be subject to a 2:1 ratio depending on your status. Because of that, it’s probably wise to transfer your LQR points before March 31st to Wyndham Rewards so you won’t lose any of them on April 3rd.

You can match your status of transfer your LQR points to Wyndham Rewards here.

2. Redeeming Your Points For Stays:

One of the most unique features about the old Wyndham Rewards program was their flat-redemption rate for free night stays: 15,000 points could get you a free night at any Wyndham brand hotel – whether it was a night at one of their high-end Wyndham Grand Hotels or a Super8.

On 4/3, Wyndham will be moving over to a new, three-tier rewards chart that will be replacing their current 15,000 points = one free night anywhere deal in favor of the following:

  • 7,500 points (or 1,500 points + cash)
  • 15,000 points (or 3,000 points + cash)
  • 30,000 points (or 6,000 points + cash)

There haven’t been any formal announcements about which brands will fall into which tier, but that should be coming shortly. In the meantime, up until April 3rd, members can still cash in their points according to the 15,000 points = one night exchange rate if they wish to do so.

3. Additional Ways To Earn & Redeem Points:

In addition to earning on hotel stays, Wyndham will also be announcing new earn & redeem options with a variety of different partners, including Marathon brand gas stations, DoorDash, and more. Additionally, customers will be able to earn points for shopping through WyndhamRewards.com, as well as redeem their points for items like gift cards and air travel.
